Golf

Within driving distance of about 35 kms / 20 miles there are some 8 golf courses. Most of them are listed within the top 100 courses in mainland Europe in Golf World magazine.

• The closest course is Pals Golf Club just a 5 minute walk from the apartment (pictured above). It is an 18 hole well manicured course set near to the beach amongst tree-lined fairways. Tel 00 34 972 636006.

• A 5 minute drive takes you to the Golf Serres De Pals, set just back from the beach it is relatively new 18 holes with stylish bar terrace, pro-shop and restaurant. Tel 00 34 972 637375.

• Near to Torroella di Montgri, a drive of 9kms / 5 miles, is Emporda Golf. This course has 27 holes in use with 9 under construction. The clubhouse facilities include a pro-shop, bar-restaurant, baby-sitting service, and swimming pools. The course is an excellent pine-tree lined fairways and some strategic water. • The new star of the local golf facilities is the new PGA Golf de Catalunya situated on the N11 near exit 8 of the A7 at Gerona. A 30 minute (30kms / 20 miles) drive from Pals. The course is 18 holes par 72, with 5 tees per hole for variety. It also comprises a fine club house, pro-shop, practice area for your short game, a large driving range, putting green and PGA teaching professionals. They can be contacted on 00 34 972 472577.

• Golf Girona is on the hill above Junction 6 on the A7 motorway about 30 minutes (30 kms/ 20 miles) drive from Pals. It is a hilly 6813 yds par 72 with some fabulous views and holes to match. The clubhouse has the full facilities of bar-restaurant, pro-shop, swimming pool, tennis courts, golf school and practice area. Club rental is available. They can be contacted on 00 34 972 171641

• The novice golfer may wish to try the excellent 18 hole Pitch & Putt course at Gualta, near to Torroella di Montgri. See www.gualta.com for more details.
  

• Nearby in Playa d'Aro situated on the hills overlooking the coast is Club Golf d'Aro, Mas Nou at Santa Cristina. This is a spectacular golf course with many fabulous holes.
